This is a learning object I would use in my classroom with my students. Popplet is a great tool to set up lesson plans and visual representations of something you want to teach. This Popplet connects to the grade two science curriculum in the properties of liquids and solids strand. Specifically the overall expectation of demonstrating understanding of the properties of liquids and solids. This will be the building block of the Popplet and it will also be based of the two specific expectations (3.1 and 3.2). This Popplet outlines different books, pictures, videos and links that can be used to interact with the topic.
The books laid out on the Popplet are a great way to open the unit and get students thinking about the topic of liquids and solids. The video posted is also a great introduction to the three states of matter and accompanies the book perfectly. The pictures can be used to assist learning and give visual representations of liquids and solids. The link can also be used to have students access more videos as well as a great resource for the teacher to use.
As well as laying out my teaching objectives in a Popplet, I can teach my students how to make their own Popplets to assist their learning. This would display technological knowledge and confidence in both myself and my students.
